Belize is one of the most beautiful locations in Central America. With tourism being one of their largest economic industries, the country of Belize has decided to embrace the foreigners visiting their stunning beaches, especially on the island of Ambergris Caye.

The Many Offerings Found in Ambergris Caye

Ambergris Caye is the largest island in Belize, spanning over 25 miles long and 1 mile wide, and their most popular tourist location. The bright white sand beaches with their clean and clear waters attract any tourist looking to relax and escape the struggles of everyday life. Ambergris Caye is also home to the second largest barrier reef in the world, the Belize Barrier Reef, which attracts their fair share of Eco tourists. The waters surrounding the beaches are open to a variety of water sports such as fishing, scuba diving, parasailing, and even cave tubing through the Mayan caves!

San Pedro Town is the only town that exists on Ambergris Caye, although the island does have quite a few villages and resorts. Ambergris Caye is accessible either by boat using water taxi from the mainland or by island hopper. Maya and Tropic Airlines have daily flight servicing the island from Belize international and municipal airport. The flight usually last 15 to 20 minutes and the views are spectacular.

The residents of the island of Ambergris Caye mostly use golf carts and bicycles for travel, with some preferring to walk. Since the island is rather small, travel is still quick despite this. The population of San Pedro Town of Ambergris Caye, Belize is nearly 17,000 and is where residents buy their necessities from markets.

Although it is unlikely you will grow tired of the beaches of Ambergris Caye, San Pedro Town offers a variety of forms of entertainment for residents and tourists alike. The Paradise Theater offers arts and movies along with a bar. Clubs are open for dancing and music after the sun sets.

There is plenty of dining and entertainment is San Pedro. We have welcomed newcomers like the French Touch Lounge and Bar and Maxi’s Restaurant. For fine dining and spectacular sunset views, you must try Rain Roof Top and Evoo (located on the north side of the bridge inside the Grand Caribe resort). Casa Picasso has been a long-time favorite with the locals and travelers. Elvi’s Kitchen and Estel’s Dine by the Sea are locally own. For sushi every Tuesday and Thursday, stop by the Blue Water Grill.
For other locations: the Truck Stop has become the talk of the town. It is located one mile north of the bridge and offers four different cuisines fabricated and served from shipping containers, along with a bar,  movie and trivia nights.  For wine lovers, Wine de Vine and Marbucks are the places to be!
